These pages are some of the oldest caving WWW-pages in the world and were created March 17 1994! In the Swedish newsletter "Z mag@zine" No. 1 1995 this page was depicted on page 121, in which I take great honor!
The longest cave in Sweden is Korallgrottan which is mapped to 4503 meters (still counting). Most of the longest caves in the country are situated in the mountain area in the northwestern part of the country (known as "fjällen" in Swedish). When you visit a cave here in the summer you may encounter a snowfall while you put on your coverall. Situated in the northestern part of Sweden we have the second longest cave in primary rock of granite/gneiss in the world, Bodagrottorna, 2610 meters long ("T.S.O.D." in USA is the longest with approx. 4 km of passages).
The southern part of Sweden has mostly quite short caves with maximum length of around 300 meters. Lummelundagrottan on Gotland (a limestone island in the Baltic Sea), 4300 meters, is an extraordinary exception. The other caves in southern Sweden are still interesting from geological and historical point of view.
